#Goals – Is it more than a trend in 2017?
Is it the beginning of February already?! We thought last year went fast but 2017 seems to just be whizzing by!
Now is a better time than any to reflect on the goals that we set at the start of the year. Whether it be to obtain a promotion at work, start a business or start taking care of our health and well-being, many factors go into turning your goals into achievements.
No matter what you are working towards, it’s much easier to know where you are headed and when you have arrived if you have a map.
3 key steps:
- Goals should be written out clearly. The better you can visualise your goal, the easier this will be. It’s such a simple concept, yet it’s something we don’t always do.
- Remember hardly anyone achieves sustainable success instantly. Through the media, we are are bombarded through with sensationalised stories of how people became overnight successes and unconsciously we buy into this and neglect the detailed plan behind the success.
- Don’t give up. When we start working toward a goal we typically expect to see (often immediately) positive effects from our actions in unrealistic time frames, and we attempt to change too many things at once.
So, how do we actually move past the initial excitement and resolve to see our goals become reality?
Shifting our focus from reaching the outcome quickly to practicing a behaviour consistently will make achieving our goals habitual. This is what Russ Dacre did, when he took the reins of his family business and at the #MAGMasterclass he will be sharing how he began to rebuild the Lind Group, a hugely successful Automotive Business. For all the budding entrepreneurs, his story is certainly worth hearing.
Our thoughts, actions and behaviours are made up of a series of habits. By paying attention to the habits that are creating your outcomes, and replacing the behaviours with those that support the achievement of your goals, day after day you will move closer to getting what you want. We only need to focus on one goal at a time to have a far reaching impact on everything we do, just ask Lakwena Maciver, a creative who has worked with the likes of Adidas, Nike, Red Bull to name a few.
So if you want to make February count, in fact if 2017 is the year when you want to make some real changes and get in the know about how to up your game, we would love for you to join us and continue this discussion at our next #MAGmasterclass on Monday (6th February). Tickets are £15 and can be purchased here. Don’t forget to bring along a friend too, it’s always easier when the people in your circle are striving together, as you will need someone to hold you accountable in order to turn your goals into achievements.
